Through the keyhole of your company

One of the key elements in any marketing strategy is, of course, promotion to gain new business. But there is now a growing demand for companies to not only make themselves look good to potential clients, but also to impress prospective recruits. Job satisfaction and personal development are basic requests for an employee, but happiness within the workplace has become increasingly important and can significantly influence the success of a company.

So how do you make your company look appealing to the outside world? Quite simply through your own people; if they are content in their role and passionate about the business, they will want to shout about it.

Sharing the personality of your company

One of the most effective ways to create this positive depiction of your company, organically and unpretentiously, is through visual social media as it has the power to portray an existence solely through the eyes of the person who is posting. In addition to your business social media strategy, encouraging your employees to make regular posts provides a through the keyhole vision of what actually happens inside. If your employees are actively promoting their day-to-day life at work as an attractive and inspiring environment, job seekers will want to be in their shoes. Additionally, encouraging your employees to share their working lives whilst being creative will enhance their passion for the business. The use of carefully considered imagery can allow the individuality and personality of your company to shine through.

Having said that, it is vitally important to implement social media guidelines, as when employees post, they are representing your business as well as themselves. The visual thread needs to be real whilst remaining positive and inspirational. There are some dos and don’ts to achieve success and this is where I come in.

Your employees are your best asset

I work with companies to help develop their visual social media strategy. As a business Owner or Director, it is often difficult to be objective on what outsiders actually want to see. Your employees may have great ideas, but whilst using their own initiatives and personalities is important, brand consistency should always be maintained. Your employees are your best asset, they know your company better than anyone and with a little training on how to effectively use imagery in social media, they can become your brand ambassadors. But it is vitally important for them to know exactly what they can and can’t share to protect your brand identity.
